Apart from its highly developed tourism industry, Fujian’s industrial sector keeps strengthening in recent years, with industrial chain of its three dominant industrial sectors, namely electronic information, petroleum and chemical, machinery and equipment manufacturing much more upgraded and optimized than the past and the number of industrial clusters with over 100 billion yuan industrial added value rising from 5 to 11 in 2017. The development index results show that the top ten international shipping centres in the world in 2019, by order of ranking, are: Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Shanghai, Dubai, Rotterdam, Hamburg, New York-New Jersey, Houston and Athens. Compared to 2014-2019, the overall evaluation results are relatively stable.

This is the fourth consecutive year of publication of Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Development Index since Xinhua News Agency, in collaboration with the Baltic Exchange, introduced the “Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Centre Development Index” to the world for the first time in 2014.
